På handsk-tummen är uppbyggt en klack där strängen ska läggas och vid fullt drag och rätt teknik förstås så släpper strängen. det kräver tydligen en del träning, innan man slutar att "störa" avsläppet med ett medvetet avsläpp. det är så jag har fattat det i alla fall. har inte övat så mycket och har inte läst "Boken".

Ett tips när det gäller tumringar är att beställa ett ex av "Royal Armouries Yearbook Volume 6 2001". Den innehåller en artikel som heter The bowman's thumb-ring av William Reid. 10 sidor med ett fyrtiotal ringar i bild.

Vinsten kommer i form av renare avsläpp eftersom det finns mindre skräp (dvs. fingrar) i vägen för strängen.
