Det finns ref. från 1200talet och framåt. Mest känd blir den nog med de Schweiziska legoknektars (Reisläufer) framfart under 1400-1500talet.

De tidigare varianterna brukar vara väldigt spetsiga och ibland med ett "H" format grepp.

Till 1300 talet finns basilarden som kunde ha längder på en halvmeter och mer. Denna är ju aldeles utmärkt för strid som är 'close up and personal' och ett bra komplement till trupper där närstrid inte är första sysselsättningen, tex. bösseskyttar.

De är även lätta att tillverka även om man inte har en smedja.

Detta fixade jag till av en gammal svärdsklinga (det räckte till en testikeldolk med, en röd [:D] ). Kanske kan den ge lite inspiration.

Den är runt 53 cm lång och hjaltet är i blåfärgad ek. Färgen är pigment i linolja.
