 Forskarna har hittills hittat skillnader hos gener som kodar för kraniets och bröstkorgens struktur, ämnesomsättningen och hudens beskaffenhet, samt delar av hjärnans funktioner.

Men det som överskuggar allt annat är förstås avslöjandet att moderna människor och neandertalare haft sex med varandra. En till fyra procent av vår arvsmassa härrör från neandertalarna.

Det finns dock ett undantag. Inga neandertalgener har hittats hos människor med afrikanskt ursprung.

Alla andra folk bär på lika stor andel neandertal-dna, oavsett om de kommer från Europa, där neandertalare levde, eller Kina, där neandertalare aldrig förekom.

Slutsatsen blir att det sexuella utbytet ägde rum efter vår arts utvandring från Afrika, men sedan inte upprepades i någon större omfattning. Det antyder att utbytet skedde för cirka 60.000 år sedan, sannolikt i Mellanöstern.

Hårt skruvat men klart läsvärt. Min spontana reaktion var visst lite förhastad. Har personligen inget till övers för Freudiansk psykologi och anser liksom författaren att beteendet är höggradigt genetiskt betingat. Åtskilliga sk avvikelser har säkert haft en funktion under evolutionen även om de inte motsvarar konstruerade begrepp om normalitet i nutiden.

Ja, det var - minst sagt - en annorlunda synvinkel:

Folkgrupper med mycket Neandertalsgener 
Matriarkiska samhällen är en huvudindikator på Neandertalsgener. Dessa är koncentrerade till Europa, Fjärran Östern och Arktis och de upphör oftast i samband med introduktionen av jordbruket.

Annars är det helt riktigt att Neanderthalmänniskan var mer utvecklad än vi normalt föreställer oss. Som jag påpekade på en annan tråd så återgår både den klassiska neanderthalaren och den moderna euro-asiatiska människan på en pre- el. äldre neanderthaltyp. (Out of Africa-teorin kan vi således lämna därhän.)

Här kan de som är intresserade av detta ämne diskutera det. Jag hänvisar till tidigare trådar där detta har berörts härunder. De som inte vill diskutera ämnet bör ignorera tråden.

Jag vill också upplysa om dagens vetenskapliga hållning i frågan, ur Nationalencyclopedin:

”Modern genetisk forskning har visat att de traditionella sju geografiska raserna (kaukasoider, negrider, mongolider, sydasiatiska ursprungsfolk, indianer, oceanier, och australider) enbart kan svara för 6,3 procent av den genetiska variationen inom världens befolkning. En undersökning av underuppdelningen av de ”geografiska raserna” i 170 så kallade lokala raser resulterade i ytterligare 8,3 % samvariation. I beskrivande syfte kan man indela människosläktet i så kallade geografiska raser, av vilka man numera tenderar att nöja sig med tre: den europeiska, den afrikanska och den (mycket heterogena) asiatiska.

2) Antaganden om samband mellan biologisk ras och skillnade i mentala egenskaper (interlligens, personligehet, beteende) - vilka är bland förutsättningarna för rasistiska åsikter - är inte bara vetenskapligt ogrundade utan direkt felaktiga.”
