Jag har bott ute i nån vecka i sträck och spelat jägare. vid ett antal tillfällen. Det jag reagerade på är att min tunika och struthätta i skinn är oöverträffade när det regnar, inte ens den fetaste vadmal är lika bra, man håller sig ju faktiskt torr under skinnkläderna, och de blir aldrig tunga.

På samma sätt är mina höga kragstövlar superba att gå i skogen med, de skyddar mot i stort sett allt, särskilt om man fäller upp kragen över knäet.

Kanske kan det vara en skillnad mellan stad och landsbygd? Jag skulle då föredra att ha med mig skinnkläder om jag ska ut i vildmarken, de är bekväma när det är varmt, och de skyddar effektivt mot regnet och blåsten utan att väga just någonting eller ta så stor plats ihoppackade.

Det är väl inte så konstigt om det var tyngre/dyrare att framställa skinn när man väl lärt sig att göra tyg, av tex ull.

Jag gjorde tråd av ull redan som minior i scouterna, men vi fick aldrig garva skinn, hmm.

Vad jag menar är att ull kan du samla från fåren, långt i förväg tom, och sen sitta i stugan och tillverka tyg av, skinn måste du ut ur huset, kanske tom vandra iväg och jaga i dagar/veckor sen skall det beredas innan det ruttnar.

Sen är väl frågan om vem som hellst fick jobba med skinnberedning. Med tanke på vad som sagts om skomakeri i en annan tråd.

Det krävs jakt innan man kan börja bereda sitt skinn. Man vet också att runt boställen/byar/städer så försvinner djuren rätt snabbt, dom lär sig. Så att jaga krävs att man åker ut en bit, längre från större boställen.

Sen finns det skillnader i tidsperioder också, alla fick inte jaga hur som hellst under långa tider av historien.

Bara för att skinn är dyrare än tyg nu ska vi inte förledas till att tro att det alltid varit så. Det är som bomull som vanligen är billigare än linne nu, men var otroligt exklusivt innan 1800-talet.

Det är väl skillnad på tyg och tyg, ett enkelt ylletyg vävt hemma på gården torde inte vara så exklusivt och dyrt. Därmed inte sagt att skinn var dyrare, men jag tror att skinn var ganska så dyrt, dels för att det är relativt svårt att göra och dels med tanke på att det omnäms som handelsvara.
