Eva: Tack för mailet. Det var intressant läsning även om den var oredigerad. Jag tycker att Angus ide om att länka din "text" om Sofhias möster på FAQ:n verkar bra. Jag tror att den kan vara till glädje för många.

Det valigaste tror jag var att vika dem åt samma håll, klippa den undre lite kortare, vika den andra över den och kasta ner den. Det är så man gör t ex vid folkdräktssömnad nu också.
Man kan också sy ihop bägge sömsmånerna med langetstygn. Då ligger de ju inte slätt ner, men man får inga prickar av stygn på själva plagget.

Ovaxad lintråd glider sämre och slits snart av. Jag vaxar min med ett gammalt vaxljus. Jag använder 60/3 knyppeltråd eftersom det är den min lokala affär för, men grövre går också bra.

Lite beroende på vad du ska sy så tycker jag att det bästa stället att besöka är "Some Clothing of the Middle Ages" http://www.personal.utulsa.edu/~marc-ca ... khome.html
där du kan se hur plaggen gjordes på medeltiden utifrån fynden.

Några funderingar jag har är
* Sydde man in sömsmånen på något sätt, hur? För om man inte sick-sackar på maskin så lär det ju repa sig...
* Vilka stygn använde man för att sy ihop tygdekarna
* Ska inte sömmarna synas? Jag fick en käsnla att det skulle synas så lite som möjligt av sömmarna när jag läste här på forumet...
* Var får man tag i vaxad tråd. Är syftet med vaxad tråd att den blir starkare och smidigare än ovaxad?

Jag funderar också på kritiken mot Sophias mönster. Är kritiken riktad mot mönsterbeskrivningen eller själva mönstret? Ja, jag har hört att det kanske inte är det allra bästa. Men de är sällan det framkommer vad som faktiskt är "fel" och vad som är "rätt". Hur ska man då kunna ändra om det som man hör är alla felen och inte kosntruktiva förslag hur det ska vara.

Hon som frågade efter hjälp under "mönster" (har jag för mig) fick rådet att läsa under andra ämnen av forumet. Det har jag gjort och inte har jag blivit klokare av det. Så ni som vet, hur ser mönstret ut till en enkel klänning som sitter tight? Det behöver inte vara en exakt beskrivning i rätt storlek, bara så att jag (och andra) får en uppfattning vad som ska ändras när vi utgår från något annat mönster... Nu när jag ska börja handsy vill jag att det ska bli rätt hela vägen!

PS. Jag ska börja handsy en särk, täkte öva på handstygnen innan jag ger mig på något som måste sitta bra. Jag har en del klänningar sydda på maskin, men inte gjorda med så mycket eftertanke och/eller historisk bakgrund. Jo föresten lite, men jag kan inte så mycket... DS
